So, my name is Melanie Horan and I have decided to start a
blog. I want to reflect on the daily goings-on in our home life. I feel that
this would be a good outlet for any rants, cheers, and general “tell the world”
info. Hopefully, what I find meaningful to me will be to others as well. This
will start as random postings, and becoming more regular as time goes on.
So first, a little about me - I am writing this on my 42nd
birthday. I have a wonderful husband, Andy, to whom I have been married for 13
great years. Together we have 2 daughters who fill our lives with love and
laughter. Sarah is 11 (almost 12) and started middle school this school year.
Kelly is 9 and is in 4th grade. We live in a quiet town near the
Jersey Shore.
Today was one of those days where things go wrong and make
you grumpy on a day when things should make you happy. So it was my birthday.
My kids remembered, my husband remembered and I got a lot of well-wishes on
Facebook. For the rest of my family, I did get some people remembering, but
again (about 4-5 years now) my father did not call. I don’t need gifts or such.
Just the acknowledgement is enough. I should be fine with it by now, but it
just made the grumpy mood that I woke up in worse.
And things got worse. I found out that our dishwasher was
recalled and now I cannot use it until it is fixed or replaced. So Andy and I
decided to use a check from his parents that I had gotten for my birthday and
go out to lunch. So we looked for coupons that we could use and found one. We
did have a good lunch and a good time, but when the bil came it was over the
amount we had planned to spend. Between splurging on an appetizer and Andy
getting a beer, we didn’t pay enough attention to how much we were spending. So
there went any extra money.
So I decided to write my feelings down. These posts may not
always make perfect sense. Sometimes they will just be a rant such as today.
Sometimes I will have great information or a deal that I want to share. And
sometimes I may just want to share good news. Whatever the day holds, these
will be the musings of a mom from the Jersey Shore.
